What is the Healing & Recovery program?

The Healing & Recovery program is a physician-guided program for people recovering from a strain, a sports injury or time away from activity, and for active people who want to recover properly between hard sessions.

It gives you a structured plan for getting back to what you enjoy, with a physician’s view on what is sensible at each stage and check-ins as you progress.

What are the potential benefits?

A clear plan back to activity
Stages you can follow, from rest to a gradual return, instead of guessing when to push.
Fewer setbacks
Guidance on doing enough to heal well without doing too much too soon.
Recovery from the inside
Attention to sleep and nutrition, which the body relies on to repair tissue.
A physician’s view
Someone to check that your recovery is on track, and to refer you for physical therapy, imaging or in-person care when needed.
Support from home
Online check-ins as you progress.

How does it work?

Healing happens in stages. First comes inflammation, the body’s clean-up and protection phase. Then new tissue is laid down, and finally it is strengthened and reshaped as you load it again. Each stage needs the right balance of rest and movement.

The program supports each stage:

It respects the early phase
In the first days, protecting the area and letting it settle gives healing a good start.
It brings back load gradually
Muscles, tendons and ligaments get stronger when they are loaded step by step. Too little movement leaves them weak, and too much too soon causes setbacks.
It fuels repair
Healing tissue needs enough protein and energy, so nutrition is part of the plan.
It prioritizes sleep
Much of the body’s repair happens during deep sleep.
It knows when to refer
Some injuries need imaging, physical therapy or in-person care, and your physician will say when.

Following the stages in order is what helps tissue heal strong and lowers the chance of the same injury coming back.

What should I expect during the program?

At the start
A review of your injury or training load, a clear first stage to follow, and signs to watch for.
As you go
Check-ins as you move from one stage to the next, with the plan adjusted to how you respond.
Throughout
A gradual, steady return rather than a rush. Results vary from person to person.

Who it may suit

This program may suit you if:

  • You are returning from an injury and want a structured plan.
  • You train hard and want to recover properly between sessions.
  • You want a physician’s view on what is safe to do next.

Your physician will tell you if the program is not suitable for you, or if in-person care would serve you better.

Sudden, severe or worsening symptoms need in-person care. This program does not replace it.

What’s included

Every part of the program is led or requested by your physician.

Your physician
A PRC-licensed physician reviews your history and goals, and decides what is clinically appropriate for you.
Regular follow-ups
Your care team reviews how you are doing and the plan is adjusted as you go.
Laboratory tests
Only if your physician requests them, based on your assessment. Not everyone needs them. Your sample is collected at home and a physician reviews every result.
